ARC-lite can be used as a free-standing unit for use with prepared backside surfaces. 

ARC-lite reaches maximum functionality when used with ASAP-1 Selected Area Preparation System -- The 'quick release' plate (pictured below). used to hold the sample can be convenitently transferred between ARC-lite and ASAP-1
